PTCL has launched a promotion to upgrade the data rate of 2 Mbps customers to 4Mbps without any additional charges till Jan 2013. PTCL Broadband 4 Mbps Data Rate provides the customers with unmatched consistent high speed and ultimate connectivity. This promotion offers 4Mbps broadband for the price of Rs.1,549 per month. Customers can enjoy high speed internet for the price equivalent to 2Mbps as a promotion. Promotion is valid till 31th Jan 2013.

From the above highlight you can see that PTCL is upgrading all their customers without any consent from the customer, this isn’t something new for them as they previously did something similar in the past.

PTA needs to take notice of this practice that PTCL has been continually conducting with their consumers. At first i was thinking sure this sounds like a good idea as they might be pushing towards faster internet connectivity in Pakistan. But thinking that alone is unjust to people who cannot afford spiking increases in their monthly bills and the nerve to take these actions on behalf of consumers is intolerable. Plus, they ask us to call them to let them know we don’t want to use it when i’m sure most would not even be aware of this until its already too late.
PTCL, if you are upgrading consumers without their consent then you should also have the decency to downgrade them in due time without their consent too.. Its obvious by this behavior that you’re only trying to loot the uninformed.
If PTCL really cares about their consumers then they should offer this kind of a promotion as a free upgrade (not just for a single month either) or they should make it more affordable so that even an average consumer can afford it.
Though the most important fact here is the forceful upgrade without any consent to the consumers. PTCL has to get consent from every single consumer before they take such action towards their monthly bills, and PTA needs to make them do this!
This is deplorable. To upgrade without consent and raise your bill without your consent is unthinkable. This happens all the time in the US as well. I do not want to say the price increase is comparable because I do not know the exchange rate. But rate increases are always wrong without prior knowledge.

Bro it’s not like that if PTCL is claiming to upgrade then I hope they will, because so far they have never disappointed me.
PTCL is the best ISP currently in Pakistan. The increase in rates is bound to happen because of the increase in bandwidth. However, compared with other ISP`s it is still better to go for PTCL.
